happy birthday to girlfriend
💝💥🥳🎉
My darling Girlfriend, today I get to wish someone who has the most beautiful soul of anybody I know a very happy birthday!
My dear girlfriend, you are the single most incredible person I know and I am so lucky and grateful to have you in my life. N*ggt you know what I mean by that? You always make me smile and cheer for each other and we’ve been through some things together that can only be described as hard to handle but with love. When I look back on it now I realize how far we’ve come as friends. We’re not the best, just okay, but hey, there’s no need to apologize because you had an amazing journey with us. Your growth is really good and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for both of you.
First day at work (yes, this is my first day and oh how I hope they’re happy!)
You’re right about one thing though… You absolutely deserve “first day at work” because YOU deserve it. No words can describe or justify your beauty, grace, intelligence, strength, creativity, loyalty, patience, and kindness. If you don’t see yourself in those categories then that’s fine because I’m okay with that. You’ll still be great every day and I know I will be too because I’ve watched you grow into everything you want to become. The people in my life have grown up on their own without any help other than having them as a second mother and support system.
You do such a fantastic job in teaching, guiding, inspiring, counseling, and being a role model for me and others. So many of those qualities came from working alongside you in our early years. In fact being able to go to school with you when I started going to college was something very special. As a young woman you were truly a beacon for all the women around me. From teaching English/Spanish to helping out with community service projects. Everything about you as a human being made me feel like I could trust in you whenever I needed advice and encouragement. That trust and confidence grew until it became part of my identity. It wasn’t easy growing up but you showed me that feeling of safety and security before any of that even happened. Thank you for paving the path and showing me what courage looks like. What a wonderful gift you have shown me. The more I learn about you the more confident I am in myself in knowing what I want to accomplish in my life.
I learned a lot from you and it’s all because of you. Growing up being surrounded by a bunch of different races and cultures taught me a lot, even if they didn’t all agree with me at times. But I also got to experience being a Black female growing up and experiencing racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, anti-semitism, and more. Being on the inside and understanding why you were treated the way you were and seeing the world through your eyes gave me the courage to stand up to you when I had to. Some days you can say hurtful and disrespectful things to me, but it’s part of growing up… You have pushed me to the limit and as long as I remember that I do not take things personally. You have helped me figure out who I am and how I should treat everyone. You were more than my teacher, friend, and mentor, you showed me what real friendship looks like, how to put others above myself and treat myself with respect.
You have given me so much to talk about and learn about. Even after I’ve been gone for almost 5 years, I know what you mean in the way you speak, act, and think. I know that behind those beautiful brown eyes, you are still trying to find your place in the world and that you are trying so hard to show us all the places that may have long gone unnoticed. Every time we catch wind that we haven’t met yet, you make sure that we check up on each other and we let each other know that we’re here for each other. This makes me happy because I know that we’ll meet someday.
You showed me what true happiness is really like and I know you’ll never stop showing me what real love looks like. Not after hearing you explain it all so eloquently and eloquentially to me. There can never be another moment where I could ever have imagined that I would have anything in this life that I wouldn’t give to have the same chance at it. I cannot thank you enough for showing me to love, to be loved, to fight for, to be courageous, and most importantly to care about. Without you around I would never have understood that the greatest joy in life is simply how blessed you are.
